Introduction Application Properties Advantage Of Using Nanotechnology

In addition to a peaceful environment, comfortable sleeping requires a clean, germ-free space. Pillows and sleeping products have a high potential for the growth of fungi and bacteria, which can cause many problems such as skin diseases and allergies in adults and children. On the other hand, using clean pillows and bedsheets on hospital beds is also important, and if is not sterilized, there is a possibility of infection and the spread of germ in the hospital. Contamination of sleeping commodities, such as pillows and bedsheets, can also cause unpleasant odors. In order to solve such problems, washing and disinfection of sleeping goods is required, which is a time-consuming process and need high cost.

Today, using the fabrics with antibacterial properties in the production of sleeping goods has been considered as a new method. These fabrics, which are usually made of polyamide, contain nanoparticles and provide a good antimicrobial property due to the high capability of nanoparticles to penetrate and fight microorganisms. Milad Parnia Iranian Company has produced a set of antibacterial pillow and bedsheet using non-woven fabric which is composed of separate fibers and adding nanoparticles to the internal structure of this fabric.

  • Antibacterial activity is an indicator of the ability of a product to kill bacteria in contact with it; a logarithmic comparison of the number of bacteria on the control sample and the product sample is obtained after 24 hours of contact with the bacteria. According to the standard, the effect is significant when the antibacterial activity of the product is between 2 and 3; if the antibacterial activity is more than 3, it has a strong effect.
  • Based on antibacterial and antifungal tests performed, the company's sheetbed and pillowcase can kill bacteria such as E.Coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. This product contains nanoparticles in accordance with paragraph 4-4 of the Iran-ISO National Standard No. 80004-2 and can be placed in the field of nanotechnology. The “antibacterial activity” of this product is in accordance with INSO 11070 standard.
