Introduction Application Properties Advantage Of Using Nanotechnology

Magnesium fluoride (MgF2) is an inorganic compound which is a white crystalline salt and is transparent over a wide range of wavelengths. It occurs naturally as the rare mineral sellaite. MgF2 nanoparticles possess fabulous properties like low refractive index, corrosion resistance, high thermal stability  and toughness which make them an interesting candidate in the catalyst, coating, and anti-reflective lenses applications. Because of high light transmission in the range of 1-7 μm, as optical materials, they are used for protection, anti-reflective coating, and transmission the light over glass.

  • Optical lenses
  • Anti-reflective coatings
  • Traffic cameras
  • Anti-reflector mirrors
  • Great optical properties
  • High shock resistance
  • Light weight
  • High mechanical properties

This product is known as MgF2 nanoparticles with the particle size less than 100 nm. It shows a purity of 97%. Magnesium fluoride nanoparticles due to high surface area to volume ratio exhibit a particularly low refractive index (1.38) and high transmittance across the ultraviolet-visible to IR range.
